RAF Benevolent Fund

Jacqui Thompson’s husband Gary, a reservist with the RAF Regiment, was killed in Afghanistan in 2008 after his vehicle was hit by a landmine.

“I cannot put into words how much we love and miss him. We have five girls. They had a really close relationship with their dad. He was the loveliest rogue, always teasing. When he was killed, the RAF Benevolent Fund told me how they could help, and gave a cheque to make sure we weren’t in difficulty during the turmoil. I knew then that we wouldn’t face losing our home and I would be able to support our daughter, Jordan, through university. I want more people to know that, if the worst happens, the RAF Benevolent Fund are ready to help in any way they can.”

The RAF Benevolent Fund is the RAF’s leading welfare charity, supporting serving and past members of the RAF and their dependants, financially and emotionally, whenever they need us. Last year, we spent £17.6m helping 57,000 members of the RAF Family. Through your help, we can reach out and support people like Jacqui and thousands more.
